The icon of the Theotokos of the Passion takes its name from the sufferings of Christ. In its full form, archangels fly beside the Mother carrying the cross, the spear and the reed with the sponge. The Child sees them, turns and grasps his Mother by the hand with both of his. The Theotokos does not look at her Son but at the one praying before the icon, calmly, as a mother who knows what is coming and does not let her child go.
This piece shows the Mother and Child without the angels bearing the instruments of the Passion. Above them, on a separate top board, two angels hold the Mandylion - the face of Christ on a cloth. According to tradition, the Lord wiped his face with the cloth and sent it to the ailing King Abgar of Edessa, and it is held to be the first icon of Christ. So one board carries the Son as a child in the arms of his Mother and his face on the holy cloth.
The board is tall and narrow, made of real wood, with a top board for the Mandylion and a bottom board in a warm reddish tone. The image is printed on a cut-out mounted over the board, the halos are in raised gold, and the monograms ΜΡ ΘΥ and IC XC are written in red. On the back there is a cord for hanging and a certificate of authenticity.

Delivery
We ship all orders within Serbia only. Delivery takes 10-15 business days from order confirmation - this includes crafting, packaging and transport.
Icons are sent by courier, with proof of delivery. Packaging is twofold - an inner layer with protective foam and an outer cushioning layer for safe transport.
