Who we are

Rooted in Greece,
working in Petrovčić.

Orthodox Corner is a small family workshop. We moved from Greece to Serbia, and in Petrovčić near Belgrade we make Orthodox icons - from preparing the MDF base to applying the final varnish. Every piece goes through the same careful process; this is not mass production.

Our range is not limited to a single technique. Classic icons, pieces with antique-style decorative borders, diptychs, icons with cut-out details, and multi-layered compositions with a sense of depth - we also work to order if you are looking for a particular saint or a size outside our standard range.

An icon is not merely art - it is a window into eternity. That is why every piece goes through the same careful process, with no shortcuts.
How we work

A tradition that does not rush.

Every piece begins with the selection of an MDF base - prepared to a smoothness that accepts the motif without imperfection. Traditional iconographic designs are then transferred onto the base, hand-finished where needed, and sealed with a layer of protective eco-friendly varnish.

Different effects - antique-style decorative borders, multi-layered compositions with a sense of depth, diptychs, and pieces with cut-out details - are achieved through different techniques, but through the same careful process. Colors remain vivid, the icon ready to be treasured for generations.

The process behind the icon

Four moments from every piece - from preparing the MDF base to the final protective coat. No shortcuts, no improvisation.

  1. Sanding the MDF base before the icon is applied

    The MDF is sanded smooth - without this step the motif would not sit evenly on the base.

  2. Hand-finishing the icon with a brush

    Details are gone over with a brush - piece by piece, wherever a line or tone needs correcting.

  3. Applying the protective eco-friendly varnish to the icon

    A final coat that protects the colors from moisture and time. The icon stays vivid for generations.

  4. Fitting the hanging hook to the back of the icon

    Hook and certificate

    A hook and the workshop's mark are fitted to the back - the icon is ready for its place in your home.
