The icon of the Most Holy Theotokos of the Passion (Greek Παναγία τοῦ Πάθους) shows the moment in which the infant Christ catches sight of the instruments of His coming Passion - the cross, the lance and the sponge, shown to Him by the archangels. Frightened, He grasps His Mother's hand with both of His own and turns away sharply, and a sandal slips from His foot. That one dangling sandal is the best-known detail of this icon and the quietest way iconography has said that God became a child - a child who is afraid. The Theotokos does not look at her Son but straight at us, because she already knows what is coming.
In this piece the icon is mounted on a dark board with metal cross-fittings and brass studs, with the gold monogram ΜΡ ΘΥ (Mother of God) at the sides - a look recalling the old metal-clad icons of monastery treasuries. Before the Theotokos of the Passion mothers pray for their children, and so do all who carry fear for someone they love.

Delivery
We ship all orders within Serbia only. Delivery takes 10-15 business days from order confirmation - this includes crafting, packaging and transport.
Icons are sent by courier, with proof of delivery. Packaging is twofold - an inner layer with protective foam and an outer cushioning layer for safe transport.
