The Theotokos of Tenderness is one of the best-loved icons of the Mother of God in Orthodox homes. The Greek name of this type, Glykophilousa, means "the sweetly loving", and it describes what you see at first glance: the Child presses his cheek against his Mother, and she holds him close, as any mother would. The best-known wonderworking icon of this type is kept at the Monastery of Philotheou on Mount Athos.
Here the Theotokos wears a deep red maphorion with stars on her brow and shoulder, and Christ is in a light robe, holding a scroll. Beside their heads stand the Greek monograms ΜΡ ΘΥ (Mother of God) and IC XC (Jesus Christ), written in gold.
This is a two-layer 3D icon. The image is printed on a separate cut-out mounted on top of the dark board, so Mother and Child stand out from the background and cast a soft shadow. The halo is worked in relief and catches the light at an angle, and the edge of the board is cut in a wave and darkened.

Delivery
We ship all orders within Serbia only. Delivery takes 10-15 business days from order confirmation - this includes crafting, packaging and transport.
Icons are sent by courier, with proof of delivery. Packaging is twofold - an inner layer with protective foam and an outer cushioning layer for safe transport.
