The Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God is the feast that opens the liturgical year in Orthodoxy and that honours the parents of the Mother of God - Sts. Joachim and Anna. The icon depicts a complex multi-figure scene following the event: St. Anna reclines on a festive couch after the birth, surrounded by women caring for her, while in the foreground midwives bathe the newborn Mary. A figure watching the scene appears in a corner. The Greek inscription ΤΟ ΓΕΝΕΣΙΟΝ ΤΗΣ ΘΕΟΤΟΚΟΥ (The Nativity of the Theotokos) identifies the feast. The scene is warm, familial, and intimate - as befits a feast that speaks of God choosing to come through a woman who herself had a mother who bore her with joy and prayer.
The Church celebrates the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God on 8 September (21 September by the new calendar). This feast is especially honoured by families awaiting a child or who celebrate Mala Gospojina.

Delivery
We ship all orders within Serbia only. Delivery takes 10-15 business days from order confirmation - this includes crafting, packaging and transport.
Icons are sent by courier, with proof of delivery. Packaging is twofold - an inner layer with protective foam and an outer cushioning layer for safe transport.
