Saint Ephraim of Philotheou and Arizona is one of the most revered elders of our time. As a disciple of Saint Joseph the Hesychast, he carried the hesychast tradition from Mount Athos: he served as abbot of the Monastery of Philotheou, and later, in the desert of Arizona in the United States, he founded St. Anthony's Monastery along with a number of other monastic communities. On this icon he is depicted as an Athonite monk - in a black cowl (a monastic cap with a veil) and a golden halo, blessing with his right hand while holding an abbot's staff (paterissa) and a prayer rope. The Greek inscription "Ο Όσιος Εφραίμ ο εν τη Αριζόνι" means "Saint Ephraim in Arizona" and points to the place of his monastic labor. He is known for the gift of unceasing prayer, spiritual discernment, and a multitude of spiritual children around the world.

Delivery
