Saint Catherine of Alexandria lived in the early 4th century in Alexandria, in a distinguished and learned family. She was of exceptional wisdom and education, and through her eloquence she put many pagan philosophers to shame and led many to faith in Christ. For her fearless confession of faith she was condemned to a terrible torture on a spiked wheel which, according to tradition, miraculously broke apart, after which she was beheaded with a sword. On this icon she is depicted as an empress on a throne, with a crown and a golden halo, while around her are arranged the emblems of her life - the great wheel of martyrdom, open books and scrolls of learning, an owl as a symbol of wisdom, a cross and a mountain landscape. The Greek inscription "ΑΓΙΑ ΑΙΚΑΤΕΡΙΝΑ" means "Saint Catherine".
Saint Catherine is prayed to by students, pupils and educators, as well as all who seek wisdom and knowledge, and especially by young women praying for protection and the right path in life. The icon finds its place in the holy corner of the home, on the family iconostasis or in a prayer nook, and it makes a lovely gift for a family patron saint day (krsna slava), a name day (Saint Catherine's Day), a baptism, or as a blessing for a student before exams. In the Orthodox calendar, Saint Catherine is commemorated on December 7 (November 24 by the old calendar).

Delivery
We ship all orders within Serbia only. Delivery takes 10-15 business days from order confirmation - this includes crafting, packaging and transport.
Icons are sent by courier, with proof of delivery. Packaging is twofold - an inner layer with protective foam and an outer cushioning layer for safe transport.
