Saint Naum of Ohrid was one of the closest disciples of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius and one of the Seven Apostles of the Slavs who carried on their work of spreading literacy and faith among the Slavic peoples. He is remembered as an enlightener and wonderworker who founded a monastery on the shore of Lake Ohrid that still bears his name today. On this icon he is shown in black monastic robes, calm and prayerful in his presence. In his hands he holds a model of a church - the monastery he built, a sign of his work as a builder and founder. Beside his figure stands the inscription "Saint Naum of Ohrid".

The faithful pray to him for spiritual peace, healing, and comfort, and his monastery on Lake Ohrid remains a well-known place of pilgrimage and prayer to this day.
