Saint Demetrius the Great Martyr of Thessaloniki was a young Christian and a respected officer in the city of Thessaloniki, who bravely and openly confessed his faith in Christ and suffered a martyr's death for it. On this icon he is shown as a warrior in armor, holding a spear and a sword - the image of a spiritual soldier who stands firm in his faith. Beside his figure is the Greek inscription Ο ΑΓΙΟΣ ΔΗΜΗΤΡΙΟΣ Ο ΜΥΡΟΒΛΥΤΗΣ - Saint Demetrius the Myrrh-streaming, named for the myrrh that flowed from his holy relics. Delivery
