Saint Andrew the First-Called was a fisherman from the Sea of Galilee and the brother of the Apostle Peter, and he received the name First-Called because the Lord Jesus Christ was the first to call him as His disciple. After Pentecost he preached the Gospel in the lands around the Black Sea and in the Balkans, and according to tradition he sowed the seed of Christianity among our ancestors. He suffered a martyr's death in the Greek city of Patras, crucified on an X-shaped cross, which is named after him - Saint Andrew's cross. It is precisely this cross that dominates this icon, while the saint holds the Gospel in his hand as a preacher of Christ's word. The Greek inscription Ο ΑΓΙΟΣ ΑΝΔΡΕΑΣ means Saint Andrew.
The faithful pray to Saint Andrew for firmness of faith and for a blessing on their travels and work, and he is especially honored by fishermen and sailors, whose patron he is. The icon finds its place in the holy corner of the home, on the family iconostasis or in a prayer nook, where it becomes the center of family prayer. Delivery
We ship all orders within Serbia only. Delivery takes 10-15 business days from order confirmation - this includes crafting, packaging and transport.
Icons are sent by courier, with proof of delivery. Packaging is twofold - an inner layer with protective foam and an outer cushioning layer for safe transport.
