The Gospels tell us more than once that the Lord withdrew to pray - into the desert, onto the mountain, and on the last night before his Passion into the Garden of Gethsemane. The image of Christ in prayer reminds us that he too, as man, sought strength in speaking with the Father, and invites those who look at it to do the same.
Christ is shown with folded hands, his face lifted and his eyes closed, with long hair and beard. The image is a realistic drawing in brown tones, in the manner of an engraving, not an icon painted to the Byzantine canon, so the cross fits easily into a modern home.
The cross is made of MDF in a warm brown tone, with rough edges and four gold decorative studs at the ends of the arms. On the back there is a cord for hanging and a certificate of authenticity.
