St. Sophia of Kleisoura (1883 to 1974) was a Greek ascetic who spent the greater part of her life in an abandoned monastery in Kleisoura. After a difficult life and exile, she withdrew into prayer, living in extreme poverty - she slept by the hearth, ate very little, and gave everything to others.

Although simple and unlearned, God endowed her with the gift of clairvoyance and consolation; people came to her with their sorrows, and she knew how to comfort and guide every one of them. She was glorified in 2011; her feast day is May 6th. Before her icon, the faithful pray for humility, for patience in poverty, and for consolation in trouble.
