Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos as a Child on Papyrus

This icon shows the Most Holy Theotokos in childhood - as a young girl holding a lily, the flower that has long been a symbol of purity and virginity. The depiction recalls the feast of the Entrance of the Theotokos into the Temple, when, by tradition, her parents Joachim and Anna brought her as a three-year-old child to the temple and dedicated her to God. Beside the figure are the Greek monograms ΜΡ ΘΥ (Mother of God), according to the iconographic canon. Her quiet, gentle gaze makes this icon especially warm and dear - beloved among mothers and in homes with a special devotion to the Mother of God.

The icon is made in our workshop in Petrovcic, near Belgrade. The image is applied to a papyrus-look surface with curled, timeworn edges. On the back there is a jute cord for hanging and a certificate of authenticity by Orthodox Corner. Available in three sizes. A certificate accompanies every piece.
