St. Empress Helen (c. 250-330) - mother of Emperor Constantine the Great, the first Christian empress and discoverer of the Holy Cross of Christ. After her son converted to Christianity, Helen traveled to the Holy Land, built basilicas at the sites of Christ's birth, crucifixion and resurrection, and found the wood of the Cross on which the Saviour suffered.

Her feast day is June 3, celebrated together with St. Constantine the Great - this is one of the most widespread Serbian krsna slava feasts. The icon is traditionally kept in the homes of families celebrating Konstantin-Jelena, and given as a gift to mothers, wives, and women named Helen.
