This icon depicts Jesus Christ in the renowned Byzantine type "Extreme Humility" (Greek Η ΑΚΡΑ ΤΑΠΕΙΝΩΣΙΣ), also known as the King of Glory. Christ is shown dead, upright, risen from the tomb, with his head bowed onto his shoulder, his eyes closed and his hands crossed over his body. Behind him rises the cross, and on his body the wounds of the Passion are visible - the mark of the spear on his side and the wounds on his hands. The golden-yellow halo and the Greek inscription to the left and right emphasize the depth and peace of this moment. The scene does not portray pain, but the utmost humility and the silence of God before death, between the crucifixion and the resurrection.
The faithful experience this type of icon especially during the days of Holy Week, and most of all on Good Friday, when the Church gathers before Christ's Passion and burial. In front of the icon is a red glass vigil lamp, so the whole piece becomes a small place of prayer - for lighting a candle or vigil lamp and quiet prayer at home. Delivery
We ship all orders within Serbia only. Delivery takes 10-15 business days from order confirmation - this includes crafting, packaging and transport.
Icons are sent by courier, with proof of delivery. Packaging is twofold - an inner layer with protective foam and an outer cushioning layer for safe transport.
