Holy Apostles Peter and Paul (rustic edge)

The holy apostles Peter and Paul are called the foremost apostles because they are among the greatest preachers of Christ's Gospel. Saint Peter, a former fisherman whom the Lord called the rock of faith, is shown on the left as an older apostle with gray hair and beard, holding a scroll in his hand. Saint Paul, once a persecutor of Christians who was converted on the road to Damascus and became the apostle of the nations, is shown on the right as a bald apostle with a dark pointed beard, holding in his hands the red book of his epistles. Between them rises a temple with a red dome, representing the Church that they founded through their preaching and martyrdom. The Greek inscription ΟΙ ΑΓΙΟΙ ΠΕΤΡΟΣ ΚΑΙ ΠΑΥΛΟΣ means Saints Peter and Paul, and the gold background symbolizes the light of the Heavenly Kingdom.
