A diptych (two-panel icon) is a special form that originates from the early centuries of Christianity. Open, the book held two holy images within it - the left and right panels together form one theological whole. This piece depicts on the left the Most Holy Mother of God with the young Christ, and on the right St. John the Baptist in the iconographic type "Angel of the Desert" - with wings, in the garb of a desert-dweller, holding a platter with his own severed head. Between them is a golden medallion with Christ Pantocrator. The iconographic message is clear: the Mother of God who carries God, and the Forerunner who gives everything for Him - both point toward Christ at the centre.
The inscriptions on the icon are in Greek - ΜΡ ΘΥ for the Mother of God and Ο ΑΓΙΟΣ ΙΩΑΝΝΗΣ Ο ΠΡΟΔΡΟΜΟΣ for the Forerunner. The background is warm golden-brown, and the open-book shaped base gives this icon a distinctive appearance - both as an object that opens and closes, it is practical as a travel icon or on a desk.

Delivery
We ship all orders within Serbia only. Delivery takes 10-15 business days from order confirmation - this includes crafting, packaging and transport.
Icons are sent by courier, with proof of delivery. Packaging is twofold - an inner layer with protective foam and an outer cushioning layer for safe transport.
