The Most Holy Theotokos of Blachernae takes her name from the famous Church of Blachernae in Constantinople, one of the best-known holy sites dedicated to the Mother of God. On this icon she is depicted in the Oranta type (the Sign): she stands upright, hands raised and spread in prayer, and on her breast she bears a luminous medallion in which the young Christ Emmanuel blesses with both hands. Below her rises a fortified city with towers, walls and church domes, surrounded by sea waves, while at the center a gathering of bishops and faithful people can be seen. The Greek inscription МР ΘΥ is an abbreviation of the words "Mother of God," and the inscription Η ΠΑΝΑΓΙΑ ΤΩΝ ΒΛΑΧΕΡΝΩΝ means "The Most Holy Theotokos of Blachernae." The image of the city above the water recalls the tradition of the Theotokos as the protector of Constantinople and its people.

Delivery
We ship all orders within Serbia only. Delivery takes 10-15 business days from order confirmation - this includes crafting, packaging and transport.
Icons are sent by courier, with proof of delivery. Packaging is twofold - an inner layer with protective foam and an outer cushioning layer for safe transport.
